Unleashing Piaget’s Dragon Collection

Exceptional Crafts – To celebrate the Lunar New Year and mark the Year of the Dragon, Piaget introduced a distinctive capsule collection of exceptional timepieces in 2012. As the 12-year cycle restarts, that same spirit of bold creativity, extraordinary sophistication, and surprising beauty is revived once again when Piaget presents a special Lunar New Year capsule collection dedicated to the magnetic energies of the Dragon and Phoenix. As a symbol embodying power, strength, and prosperity, the Dragon holds a special place as one of the most revered and emblematic Chinese zodiac symbols. In Piaget’s 2012 commemorative Lunar New Year collection, the Maison crafted 24 references, including four high watchmaking complications, eight Metiers d’Art timepieces, and two High Jewelry secret watches. Subsequently, each year witnessed the release of individually crafted watches, predominantly in minimal tones, paying homage to the zodiac sign of the year. This year, a dazzling new capsule collection is unveiled, once again honoring the Dragon. The collection showcases audacious designs, featuring exceptional watches. Each creation exudes emotion and exuberance, joyfully embracing the Maison’s codes while celebrating unrivaled Metiers d’Art and watchmaking expertise.

Since 2006, the esteemed enameling master, Anita Porchet, has been an integral collaborator with Piaget, contributing her unparalleled expertise in crafting miniature enamel details, alongside her remarkable patience and passion. Porchet has been the creative force behind Piaget’s annual Lunar New Year watches, and now, in a particularly modern and vibrant expression, two 38mm Altiplano Zodiac references emerge. Limited to just 38 pieces each, these watches feature dials depicting either an elegant blue Dragon or a captivating mix of red, pink, and orange hues for the Phoenix soaring among the clouds. The sky is meticulously crafted from a subtle blend of carved white and grey mother of pearl. Porchet’s mastery in cloisonné enameling and her distinctive interplay of light, shadow, and transparency truly breathe life into the scenes. The Dragon’s scales and the Phoenix’s plumage are further enhanced by gold engraving, introducing depth and dimensionality to the intricate designs. Exhibiting complexity in craftsmanship and sophistication, these watches are executed with expert precision, evoking a profound sense of wonder and awe. Beyond their status as classic motifs and Chinese symbols, the watches possess a bold and colorful new style that resonates with a universal appeal.

Continuing the theme, a 41mm Altiplano High Jewelry Dragon timepiece showcases Anita Porchet’s meticulous fine paillonné enamelwork, complementing a gold-engraved Dragon meticulously rendered with exquisite and powerful detail. The Dragon, featuring captivating red lacquered eyes and clasping a mystical black opal fireball in its claws, emanates a mesmerizing aura accentuated by a radiant sunburst engraving. The watch, adorned with diamonds on the lugs and bezel, is powered by Piaget’s historic 830P Manufacture ultra-thin, hand-wound mechanical movement and is limited to eight numbered editions.
